El armisticio del 22 de junio de 1940, es el nombre de un acuerdo de cese de hostilidades entre las autoridades del Tercer Reich alemán y los representantes del gobierno francés del mariscal Pétain, en el marco de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, que fue firmado en Rethondes en dicha fecha, en el llamado vagón del armisticio (el mismo en el que se había firmado el armisticio del 11 de noviembre de 1918 que puso fin a la Primera Guerra Mundial), vagón nº 2.419 de la Cía. Intl. de Wagons Lits.
Hitler dispuso que la firma se celebrara en ese vagón para resarcirse de la capitulación del ejército alemán en la Primera Guerra Mundial que fué firmada en ese mismo vagón.

Este vídeo fué grabado por el ejército alemán. Muestra la ceremonia del Armisticio celebrada en la localidad francesa de Compiegne (donde estaba, y está, el vagón 2.419 de nuestra Empresa).
Hitler, acompañado por Rudolf Hess, Guering y otros militares de alto grado, esperan a los representantes del ejército francés para la firma del Armisticio.
Se puede apreciar como estos representantes franceses se ven sorprendidos, en el interior del vagón, por la presencia de las cámaras.
